going nude

going nude

The season is finally here... wedding season, that is. This year I'm only in one wedding, but I have a feeling that number will increase greatly in the years to come. As for shoes, I think nude is the ultimate way to go. They're typically the color of choice as a bridesmaid, can be worn when you're attending as a guest, and can also be worn throughout the year in your day-to-day life.

I purchased these beauties for the wedding I'm in this weekend, but am looking forward to wearing them in the years to come. Jimmy Choo's Lance were on my ultimate wish list, but luckily my roommate picked them up in gold at their sample sale this year for a wedding she's in, and I'm looking forward to stealing wearing them when she lets me. I'm also loving these Steve Madden wedges as an option for height without the pain of dealing with heels (especially if you're attending a garden wedding). This pair seems like it would give you more stability than the others, and the price can't be beat. I absolutely adore the shape of these Tory Burch heels. Wishing for something a little extra? The bow on these make them a stand out. And you can always count on J.Crew for a classic that will become your wardrobe staple.

Is there a particular designer or brand you always go to for shoes? I would love to hear.

travel essentials

travel essentials

Tomorrow is the day I have been looking forward to for months: I'm going home to Florida for a few days! In prep for my flight, I've created a list to help me throw everything together once I get home from the office tonight. I think it's good to always have a few go-to pieces to make your travel day easier. These are a few of my essentials.

I prefer traveling in sneakers. They're relatively easy to slip on and off when going through security, plus you can keep your socks on & don't have to worry about walking around in your bare feet (ew, gross). For a little edge, try a sneaker with a hidden wedge.

Pack your own neck pillow and mask to save yourself from the overpriced (and completely boring) pillows they sell in the airport.

I love to carry a travel size Evian mineral water spray with me in my carry-on. Just spritz a little on your face to revitalize parched skin mid-flight.

A fun journal, because there's no better time to think/get creative than a long flight and you'll need something to jot down all of those ideas.

Frends headphones allow you to listen to music in style during your flight.

Sunnies & a lip stain help you disembark with minimal effort.

I always carry extra pouches in my travel bag. It makes for easy organization and also helps to switch purses easily during your vacay. Just fill the pouch with your phone, keys, license & cards, and some essential makeup, then pull it out of one bag and throw into your second for an easy switch. This one will guarantee to put a smile on your face every time you see it.

A pretty pashmina works double duty: loop it around your neck as a chic scarf while maneuvering through the airport, then use it as a blanket in-flight to ward off any chill.

How many times have you opened the overhead after a long flight only to find black bags that all blend together? Carry this bright Herschel duffle and you'll have no problem picking yours out of the mix quickly.

You know those days when you're running around like crazy and finally check your phone only to realize you have 5% battery left? An external battery for your iPhone will always save you in those situations, especially when your day is spent on a plane.

Keep these little bottles on hand and you'll never have to worry about finding your favorite shampoo, conditioner or lotion in travel size again. Bonus: three little lines help you fill with the perfect amount - overnight, weekend, or long weekend.

And then, of course, the other essentials: water, healthy snacks, fuzzy socks, a great book, and a selection of magazines to pass the time.

drinking in 50 states

Do you ever wonder what your state's outstanding drink is? Well, if you live in Alaska you should be sipping on a Smoked Salmon Bloody Mary at Kito's Kave, created using smoked-salmon vodka and garnished with salmon jerky. Read on to see what other states serve up drinks just as interesting.

vitamin c

I'm just here to fill your daily dose of vitamin c. I absolutely love the citrus prints and bright pops of orange and yellow that show up on shelves right as spring decides to roll around.
